The most charming town North of Salt Lake City : Mantua | Nomad Paddle

The most charming town North of Salt Lake City could quite possibly be Mantua (man-o-way). It's nestled into the canyon between Brigham City and Logan. I've driven by dozens of times and always wanted to stop. You can see the reservoir from the canyon road. The houses are charming and it looks like a scene straight out of a movie. Word on the street is that to live there you have to be voted in. Could be a rumor, but that's just what I heard.

The cottonwood was drifting around like snow in June!

When you pull up to the reservoir there is a small parking lot, bathrooms, and picnic area. There are several stair cases along the reservoir that you can take to get to the water. At the top of the stair case there is a small road for cars to tow boats to the dock and then there is a small strip of sandy beach. Just enough. The walk is so short, you can haul all of your stuff in under 2 minutes from your car to the water.

Now can I talk about these Nomad Paddle Boards for a second. We have rented boards before HERE. But when I heard these were blow up boards I was like... we are going to die! But I have to say, they felt exactly like the hard boards, but with one difference. We didn't need a trailer to haul them!

We got two boards. They each came in their own duffel bag with a paddle and pump! We pumped them up. Played for hours, then deflated, rinsed off sand, packed them into the bag and returned them.

SO EASY!!! My kids begged for us to buy our own, but honestly, we only make it to the lake a handful of times each year so renting just makes sense for us.

We got Locke this little remote control boat for his birthday. It is AMAZINGLY fast and the kids have all enjoyed driving it. Plus $37, can't be beat!!!

Of course we had to bring Flo the Flamingo, she is always a huge hit with the kids. She is 4 ft wide!!! Big enough for several kids at once.

They could have stayed for a few more hours, but the sun was going down and it was time to pack up for the night. There is a warning sign at Mantua Reservoir that says beware of an itch that the water may cause. I of course did not see this sign, and our kids didn't get to bed until midnight because we were out hunting for fireflies in Nibley after the Reservoir, so no showers. BUT, no one complained of an itch. Maybe just those with sensitive skin or allergies? We did notice a lot of weeds in the water. Like A LOT! They were as high as the water surface. The locals said that by the end of summer there are no boats on the water because the weeds are so bad. Just a heads up. But we had fun regardless and the town was charming and exactly how I imagined it would be.

And don't forget to check out the Poppies in Mantua! AMAZING!!!!!!!
